Live Music
If you are into live music, you will love Santa Fe’s live music scene. In the summer, things really heat up and you may be surprised to find a singer from the opera stepping up to sing a few songs with a band. You never know who might show up at a gig in The City Different.
Beer Creek Brewing—The folks at Beer Creek have quickly earned a loyal following. Is it because they brew some really good beer? Is it the pizzas, which are consistently ranked among the best in the area? Is it the scenic mountain views from their massive patio just off of the Turquoise Trail? Or maybe it’s the laid-back desert vibe that makes you feel like you are just hanging with the gang? Whatever it is, they have quickly become a local favorite.
The Cowgirl—This is one of the city’s top live music haunts and it’s a magnet for locals and an attraction for tourists. Live music most of the week. Local music lovers love the Sunday brunch which always features popular local musicians like Lucy Barna, the Sugar Mountain Neil Young band, Joe West and so many more.
Evangelo’s—This downtown dive is a musical institution that attracts talent from far and wide. Family-owned and run with live music every night and pool tables are downstairs. Tuesday night locals jam hosted by Robin Oxley. Cash only and no Budweiser, so be ready.
Santa Fe Brewing Co.—Santa Fe Brewings’ property is large enough to host major concert events. There is a very large outdoor stage, room for multiple food trucks, and a very impressive storage container that has been converted into a professional kitchen which is commandeered by Santa Fe favorites Fusion Tacos.
Tumbleroot—With a large stage and state-of-the-art sound system, Tumbleroot specializes in large club-style/music events. With a combined brewery and distillery production space, they make a wide variety of beer, spirits, liqueurs, bitters, and canned cocktails. Check their calendar for frequent live events.
The Mineshaft—Head south to Madrid, a tiny mining town with a population of about 300. You can listen to live music and enjoy a good meal.
Tiny’s—When tourists ask for the real deal New Mexican bar/restaurant experience, this is where many people send them. Hang with real locals and music lovers. Live music on Thursday nights is Honky Tonk/Country/Two-Step dancing and live cover bands are featured on Friday and Saturday nights.
